Bernd von Blomberg Schiffsmakler Gmbh was founded in 1967 by Mr Bernd von Blomberg. Together with his partner Anker Kolen based in Rotterdam the key and initial centre of attention has been the Coal and Oil business which provided the company with a strong foundation and gave the opportunity to explore further market structures.

In 1969 Clarksons, London joined the shareholders group, followed by Klaus Kreft in 1970. Having the two new partners at his side, the company developped an expertise in the grain business as a further column of acitvities and guaranteed a wide stream of information flow.

In February 1993 Michael Neu took over as the managing director after Mr Kreft and Mr von Blomberg resigned. And a new constellation of shareholders has been constructed:

• Anker Kolen
• Transocean Maritime, Monaco (www.transocean.mc)
• Michael Neu, managing director of BVB, Hamburg

In August 2004 von Blomberg opened up the first FFA (Freight Forward Agreement) broking desk in Germany, taking advantage of having the opportunity to combine the physical market knowledge with the freight derivatives.

The latest change has happened in January 2007 where the share of Anker Kolen, Rotterdam has been taken over by Michael Neu and Transocean, Monaco which leaves a new company structure:

• 50,5 % owned by Transocean Maritime, Monaco (www.transocean.mc)
• 49,5 % owned by Michael Neu, managing director of BVB, Hamburg
